As a self-proclaimed dork, I have always had an enormous amount of respect for Steve Jobs. I remember programming (if you can call it that) on an Apple IIe in jr. high school. I remember the moment I decided that computer science would be my destiny – and when I realized that was not exactly how things would go.
It has been a long time since I have dared to wear the label of “techie” — I am a dork from afar. But always, Steve Jobs meant innovation, and committment and excellence — and the courage to create what had not existed before.
A wave of sadness washed over me when I heard the news of his passing. We lost a brilliant man – too soon – and he will be missed.
Prayers for Steve Jobs. Rest in peace.
