I was saddened by the news of Amy Winehouse’s passing. A Facebook friend posted, “Sometimes people can’t handle the greatness that’s within them… ” and my response was: “Its not as easy as one might think. And that is what is most sad to me. That a great spirit could not figure out how to let their light shine in the world, so they chose instead, to snuff it out.”
May her soul rest in peace.
Amy Winehouse, you were a beautiful, so talented young woman. Why did we have to lose you at the young age of 27? We already lost Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and many others at the age of 27. The blues & jazz in your music , no doubt came from an old soul inside of you. I wish you peace now, as you clearly could not find it on this earth. I have prayers for your family who now mourns your passing along with us, your fans! Rest in peace. Now we all have another angel watching over us.
My heart aches for her family, yet there is nothing of more significance or suggestive of a greater loss in Amy’s death than in the deaths of so many others whose names we will never know, who were not blessed with special talent and drive, who died nonetheless as a result of addiction or disease even younger than Amy and in so much less material comfort. Lord have mercy.
